HOT POCKET

WATERPROOF SLEEPING BAG

NURTURING INITIATIVES

Event Description

We have named these clever sleeping bags “Hot Pockets” as their insulation feature is a real winner.

Beneficiaries wrap themselves up in a blanket and climb into the Hot Pocket. They are snug as a bug in a rug as the plastic and newspaper combination provide insulation and protection from rain.

The bags are made from 60-micron recycled bags, newspaper and packaging tape.

Although the insulation and waterproofing are the main features of the Hot Pocket, the bag has other benefits too. The bag is thin and flat when folded (rolled) up, which makes it convenient for beneficiaries to carry while on the move. It can be used as a mat in the warmer summer months as well as to “store” items when sleeping.

Volunteers will work in pairs and will each be issued with a DIY Pack with all the items needed to make the bag.
