Show & Tell
RECOURCES FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT
When you imagine a pre-school or crèche your mind will flash images of a colourful, bright and airy classroom set in the environment of a green grassy playground and adorned with an array of modern play equipment. The teacher is using the latest recourses to make an impression on the small minds. The children are thriving and learning something new every day.
But that is not the reality for most South African pre-school children – But you can change that!
The “Show and Tell” Initiative relies on the volunteers to use their creative skills to make visual recourses which assist learners with learning basic concepts like counting, learning the alphabet and colour identification.
These recourses aim to improve the learning experience of the children as they are visual and can be used interactively with the teacher co-ordinating various activities.
Colour and number wheels, abacas boards, felt boards, alphabet and number books, flash cards, posters, counting and number games are just a few of the visual recourses in the “Show and Tell” Initiative.
